Venø Fish Farm A/S raises flounder from the Limfjord for stock-enhancement projects. In the future we could start raising flounder from other waters.

The general veterinary regulations do not hinder flounder for release in, for example Ringkjøbing Fjord, be raised on Venø. However, such fish would be grown exclusively from broodstock from Ringkjøbing Fjord, and not mixed with fish from other places.

All stock-enhancement programs in Denmark are managed by the Danish Fisheries Research Institute, DIFRes. It is researchers from DIFRes who decide where and when the flounder are released as well as in what quantities and which sizes.

Some flounder are released when only a centimeter long while others are overwintered and are tagged before being released at 15-20 cm.
