Production of fish fry
Venø Fish Farm A/S produces juvenile fish such as flounder and turbot for release in stock enhancement projects and for ongrowing. The farm currently has a capacity of about 300,000 fish.

We use the so-called extensive method, whereby we use finely filtered seawater in six large, outdoor lagoons.

The principle is a bio-succession, where algal blooms are used to feed small, shrimp-like copepods. It is these copepods which the fish feed on. We have our own stocks of copepods which are many generations removed from the wild. This ensures that no parasites or diseases ar transferred to the fish via their food.

This is a very environmentally friendly method and produces robust, healthy and well developed fish.
